Debt levels are as at March 31st of each year.  Population is as at July 1st of each year in the same fiscal year - for instance, the 2024 debt is as at March 31, 2024, and the population is as at July 1, 2023.

With a BC provincial election happening on October 19, 2024, it seems odd that all of the political parties seem to be ignoring the massive debt problem. See Opinion: A return to massive deficits will bring fiscal austerity to B.C. by Jock Finlayson, chief economist of the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association, and Ken Peacock, chief economist at the Business Council of British Columbia.
