Complete a new Form W-4 for your employer when your personal or financial situation changes, so that your employer can withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay.

Income Tax Refund Checks

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) always has millions of dollars of returned checks for income tax refunds that were mailed out, but returned due to incorrect mailing addresses.

Taxpayers have the option of having a federal tax refund check mailed to them, or receiving their refund by direct deposit to their bank account.

Use the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Where's My Refund tool to check the status of your refund, or call the Refund Hotline at (800) 829-1954. The online tool will also allow you to change your address.  You will need your

bulletsocial security number ( or IRS individual taxpayer identification number)
bulletfiling status (single, married filing joint return, married filing separate return, head of household, or qualifying widow(er))
bulletexact whole dollar refund amount shown on your return
