The Federal tax brackets and personal amounts are increased for 2018 by an indexation factor of
1.015, and the Alberta brackets and amounts are increased by an indexation
factor of 1.012. The indexation
factors, tax brackets and tax rates have been confirmed to Canada Revenue Agency
information.
The 2018 marginal tax rates for non-eligible dividends reflect the dividend tax
credit rate announced on December 19, 2018. For more information see Alberta dividend tax
credits.
The Alberta government introduced new tax
brackets and rates effective October 1, 2015. The Alberta tax
bracket thresholds were not indexed for 2016, but are indexed for 2017 and
later years.

Marginal tax rate for dividends is a % of actual
dividends received (not grossed-up taxable amount).
Marginal tax rate for capital gains is a % of total capital gains
(not taxable capital gains).
Gross-up rate for eligible dividends is 38%, and for non-eligible dividends is
17% in 2017, and 16% in 2018.
